About 1,500 LCPS students in Do,a Ana, Conlee, Jornada and Hillrise elementary schools will get to learn all about flamenco dancing during the month of April 2008, thanks to an ongoing partnership between the school district and the NMSU Dance Department, said LCPS Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator Bonnie Hosie.
The "El Vaije del Arte" dance program "takes students on a journey around the world through the history of Flamenco dance.It includes dances from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean and South America as well as Native American dances," said Hosie
The dance program supports NM Dance Standards 2, 5 6 and 8 and NM History Standard 1 and Geography Standard 2, said Hosie
