Saddleblanket owners Bonnie and Dusty Henson have always had compassion for animals and consider them part of the family, but dogs have left the biggest imprint on their hearts.
"I saw the magnitude of homeless pets that needed to be adopted and at the time the Spur 601 was under construction and access to the Humane Society was, at best, very difficult," said Bonnie Henson.
Bonnie Henson's face lights up when she describes the adoption program.
"We get to meet people from all over the country who come here to meet the dogs and visit our store," Bonnie Henson said. "I remember one woman from Bainbridge Island, Wash., who was visiting family and stopped by. She fell in love with one of the dogs, called American Airlines and arranged everything to take it back home with her."
She said most people don't feel pressured when visiting the store because it's not assumed they are there to adopt, she does encourage people to help make a difference.
"I've heard it hundreds of times, 'it just breaks my heart,' and 'I wish I could take them all.' I walk up to people and say you may not be in a position to adopt but you can help by telling someone who can," Bonnie Henson said.

Does "luck" play a part in success? When I asked this question of a rich old man, he smiled and replied, "You know, it seems to me, the harder I work, the luckier I get."
