Bob Sullivan joined NISH in August 1990 as a project engineer assigned to the NISH East Region where he served for five years.
In July 1995, he became the Total Quality Manager for NISH and served as the Champion for TEAM FOCUS, the Quality Improvement initiative for NISH. In that capacity, he coordinated the activities of various Cultural Change Advisory Committees, Process Improvement Teams, in-house facilitators and the Executive Steering Committee comprised of the senior leaders in NISH. He reported directly to the President and CEO of NISH. In 1998 Sullivan returned to the East Region as a project manager with the Washington Metro area as his major responsibility for developing new work opportunities. In August 2000, Sullivan was appointed as the Interim Vice President for Program Management. He was responsible for the following major corporate functional areas: Governmental Affairs; Workforce Development; Corporate Communications; the NISH Intra/Inter/Extranet; External Training; Strategic Planning; and support for the Board of Directors. In March 2002, Sullivan became the Executive Director of the NISH East Region. Prior to coming to NISH, Sullivan served on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps for twenty-five years in varying assignments, retiring at the grade of Colonel. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1965 with a BS in engineering. In 1976 he received a MS degree in Managerial Economics from the U.S. Naval Post Graduate School.
