Channel 4's Bob Soper was the emcee. This was the first of several restoration projects targeting 25 fountains in Coral Gables in need of repair. (Fewell Park was name for Robert and Marian Fewell in 1999.) Commissioner Kerdyk introduced an "Adopt A Fountain" campaign to garner community support. The emcee was local weatherman Bob Soper, who also played the drums! Bob Soper and Gina Martell of Love 94 served as auctioneers.

Bob SoperWFOR: Bob Soper BOB SOPER Bob Soper Bob Soper joined CBS4 (formerly WCIX, Channel 6) in September, 1992.He is a Meteorologist at News 4 South Florida and reports the weather during the 5:30 and 11 news broadcasts, Monday through Friday.Bob began his broadcast career at KTVV-TV in Austin, Texas in 1972.In October 1973, Bob moved to KREM-TV in Spokane, Washington, where he worked for five years as weathercaster and as the host of a highly rated movie program called "Nostalgia Theater."Bob moved to South Florida in April, 1979.Prior to joining WFOR, he worked as Chief Meteorologist at WSVN, Channel 7.Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years.He received a bachelor's degree in Communications in 1973, from the University of Texas at Austin.He is a certified member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the AMS Seal of Approval.Bob and his wife, Susan, have worked during the past 16 years for numerous charities in South Florida.Bob serves on the Board of Directors of various organizations such as the March of Dimes, Juvenile Diabetes, Alliance Against AIDS and Project Newborn.He has become the "voice" of Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the community service organization created by WFOR in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew.He also helps organize the annual Bob Soper Charity Golf Classic which benefits the Salvation Army.Bob was recently honored by the Suncoast Chapter of NATAS with the Silver Circle award, for 25 years of service in Broadcasting.Bob and Susan enjoy playing golf and tennis.They have two married daughters and one beautiful grandchild.Bob is also an accomplished drummer having played professionally for 14 years before starting his broadcasting career.
