Bob Mihalic, government affairs coordinator for Greenville County, said most Freedom of Information Act requests to his agency are fulfilled without issue. However, he said governments need to retain the right to deny vast requests for information that absorb public resources, often for private gain.
"The majority of FOIA are turned around within 24 to 48 hours. ? I would say 95 percent of FOIA requests. It's those other 5 percent, the frivolous ones, we need protection from," he said. | Greyfields Capital | Greyfields News, 10 Oct 2007 [cached]

Greenville County splits its precincts when they reach 2,500 people, said Bob Mihalic, Greenville County spokesman. That way polling places don't get overcrowded, he said.
But it could get confusing for some who now have a new precinct with a new voting place, especially in the southern part of the county where most changes have taken place, he said.
Mihalic said they've seen a "reasonable flow" of residents come through the office.
Voters whose precincts have changed due to the county's realignment of districts do not need to change their registration, Mihalic said.
And though precincts may change, voters will all remain in the same districts, he said.
"There's no change in your district," he said. "You're still voting for the same people. Everything's the same.
