PBS NewsHour Ups Politics Game - Adds Bob Kovach
as Senior Producer for Politics
WASHINGTON, DC (July 9, 2015) - The PBS NewsHour today announces the hire of Emmy-award winning journalist Bob Kovach as Senior Producer for Politics.
In this role, Kovach will serve as the lead producer for NewsHour political coverage as national focus pivots toward the 2016 presidential election.
Kovach will join NewsHour on July 13.
"Bob's experience further compliments our strong political team, including Political Director Lisa Desjardins.
Kovach spent 24 years at CNN, in both Atlanta and D.C., where he served as executive producer of Capital Gang among other series.
He spent his last several years at CNN as Washington coverage manager, coordinating and deploying resources to breaking news and producing stories for CNN broadcast and digital platforms.

and excited to be part of this outstanding team that will lead in coverage of the 2016 presidential election," added Kovach
Most recently, Kovach
served until 2014 as senior executive producer at Al Jazeera America
, where he
coordinated all Washington-based coverage, assignments and bureau needs with the New York based headquarters.
While much of his
work focused on major political events, Kovach
who hasn't missed a political convention in nearly two decades, has also covered many other major breaking news stories, including the Boston Marathon Bombing, 9/11 and the funeral of Pope John Paul II.
