WASHINGTON -- Former Sens.Alfonse D'Amato and Bob Kerrey
have agreed to lobby on Capitol Hill for New York City in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
The former lawmakers will work for the city for free as it attempts to secure billions of dollars in federal aid to help rebuild lower Manhattan, a D'Amato spokeswoman said.
D'Amato and Kerrey
have a combined 30 years in the U.S. Senate
, D'Amato as a Republican from New York and Kerrey
as a Democrat from Nebraska.D'Amato runs a consulting firm and Kerrey is president of New School University in Manhattan.
