So far no timetable has been established for the construction of the new facility, but Hampton believes one will be set in the "next several months."According to Hampton, its ETMC's goal to have an Olympic Center at each of their facilities."We haven't really had an official center there in town, but the new building will be a standard facility like the ones we have at our other locations,"
Residents have been fighting the hospital to halt the relocation of ETMC's helicopter traffic from their current location to the newly built - but unused - helipad.Hampton has previously stated that an expanded helipad is needed in order for the hospital to accommodate larger helicopters.
"We are basically now looking at the proposal that was made at the meeting, and addressing some questions we have about it.We are going to have to determine what the impact of expanding the current landing pad would be," Hampton said."We want to create an environment that centers around what is best for our patients, but while also attempting to be as neighborhood-friendly as possible - we would like to create a win-win situation for everybody involved in this."Currently, larger helicopters are forced to land at the Cherokee County Airport, where hospital staff must drive out to meet them.If the hospital decides to accept Holt and Herr's proposal, Hampton believes the newly-built landing pad will probably revert back to a parking and storage area.
