"We are now directing visitors to park there," said Bob Hampton, vice president of property services for ETMC. "The spaces are extra wide so all types of vehicles will easily be able to get in and out of their slot. Visitors will also be able to enter the hospital on the new extension of the skywalk." The front parking lot where the helicopters are located will now be used for handicap parking, valet and clergy as space allows. "Another change will be no parking anymore on Hospital Drive, the street that goes around ETMC," said Hampton.

"We are in the process of working on the plans right now, but we are going to put in an Olympic Center on the property where the family life building was, and the land that the church was on will be a staging area for the center," said Bob Hampton, vice president of property and services for ETMC."The decision to build an Olympic Center in Jacksonville was made a few months ago at a meeting of the Nan Travis Foundation."

So far no timetable has been established for the construction of the new facility, but Hampton believes one will be set in the "next several months."
According to Hampton, its ETMC's goal to have an Olympic Center at each of their facilities.
"We haven't really had an official center there in town, but the new building will be a standard facility like the ones we have at our other locations," he said.

Bob Hampton, vice president of property and services for ETMC, said the hospital is evaluating the citizens' proposal.

"We are basically now looking at the proposal that was made at the meeting, and addressing some questions we have about it.We are going to have to determine what the impact of expanding the current landing pad would be," Hampton said."We want to create an environment that centers around what is best for our patients, but while also attempting to be as neighborhood-friendly as possible - we would like to create a win-win situation for everybody involved in this."
Currently, larger helicopters are forced to land at the Cherokee County Airport, where hospital staff must drive out to meet them.If the hospital decides to accept Holt and Herr's proposal, Hampton believes the newly-built landing pad will probably revert back to a parking and storage area.
