Since Graybar needed to find a way for the companies to share pipeline data in a timely manner without laying cable, Graybar’s product manager Blake Curry designed the application using Data-Linc SRM6000 frequency hopping spread spectrum license-free radio modems.
was familiar with the quality, integrity and reliability of the product, as well as its ease of installation and Data-Linc Group’s ability to interface seamlessly with Schneider Electric PLCs
team supplied their client with a pair of SRM serial radio modems for a 60 day test before the company purchased the permanent set.
stated, “ As usual with Data-Linc equipment, when the modems were installed and powered-up, they worked immediately without issue.”
Based upon Data-Linc Group’s reputation, demonstrated robust frequency hopping spread spectrum technology and its ability to seamlessly interface with Schneider’s Modicon equipment, Graybar
selected the SRM series serial modem.
When asked, recently, “How is it going?” Blake
replied that the “customer is extremely happy.” Since the installation the modems have “never missed a beat” despite frequently heavy fog and even military helicopter aircraft between the two platforms.
The oil company is currently looking at several other applications with Data-Linc radio modems in mind.
