Blair Aas, Director of Planning Services with SCI, reviewed the study with the board at the meeting.
He noted that under the new program, fire impact fees would be 54 cents per square foot of living space for single family homes; 91 cents per square foot of living space for multi-family housing and 80 cents per square foot of living space for mobile homes. For non-residential developments, the fees would vary from 33 to 96 cents per square foot. The program also incorporates an automatic inflationary adjustment provision. In his report, Aas said the fire department's five-year capital improvement plan calls for spending $1.6 million. Aas said the fees would be used to develop new park and recreation facilities but not for land purchases or for maintenance of any current park and recreational facilities.
