Bill Scales, Chancellor of Swinburne University of Technology and expert panel member on the Review of Funding for Schooling (better known as the Gonski Review), commended the latest research conducted by NCVER, The impact of schools on young people's transition to university, which finds that schools really do matter when it comes to students' tertiary entrance rankings and university enrolment.
'This work points the way towards extending our knowledge about improving the performance of schools. It also highlights challenges in identifying the impact of schools for particular groups of students and reminds us that there are many factors that help young people to make a successful transition', Scales says.
