"For some people, lay couples ministering to newlyweds or other couples doesn't seem as intimidating as sitting down with a pastor or counselor to pour out private details of their lives," said Bill Reif, director of marriage and family programs at Wiregrass Hope Group.
"By training these mentoring couples, we're giving them another option."
The initial training was attended by six couples representing four different churches and three denominations, he
said. The next training session for Marriage Mentors will be in late February or early March.
The organization also offers a marriage study called "Two Becoming One: God Designed Marriage, He
Can Make It Work."The study strengthens existing marriages by helping couples apply biblically based truths to their lives no matter how long they've been married, according to Reif
