Ozaki named USTA Senior Director, Junior and Collegiate CompetitionFormer GPTA President and Board Member Bill Ozaki has been named to the newly created position of Senior Director, Junior and Collegiate Competition, USTA Player Development.Ozaki will work out of the USTA Player Development Headquarters in Key Biscayne, Fla., and report to Paul Roetert, Managing Director, USTA Player Development.
...Ozaki has been Director of High Performance, Programs and Development for the USTA Southern Section since 1989, where his responsibilities included Junior Competition, High Performance, Collegiate Tennis, Multicultural Participation, Wheelchair Tennis, USA Team Tennis, Tennis Professional Relations, Youth Community Programs and Community Development.In addition, Ozaki was the liaison for the Southern Tennis Patrons Foundation for junior financial assistance."Bill brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in helping junior players reach their maximum potential including successful college careers and beyond," said Paul Roetert, Managing Director, USTA Player Development.
...Prior to joining the USTA Southern Section, Ozaki was a teaching professional in the Atlanta area for 16 years, working primarily in junior development.
Many players in his
programs attained state, sectional and national rankings in addition to advancing to collegiate competition.A long time member of the GPTA, USPTA and PTR, Ozaki, of Flowery Branch, Ga., and his wife Bonnie have four children and two grandchildren and were the 1990 Tennis Family of the Year for the Georgia Tennis Association.
