War enthusiasts attended the valuation day at Longsight Methodist Hall, Longsight Lane, Harwood on Saturday to listen to the expertise of Bill Holden and two fellow valuers.

Mr Holden, aged 50, from Heaton, who is also a Bolton Council highway's inspector, spent six hours examining tin hats, uniforms, daggers, and swords.

Mr Holden, a keen collector of wartime items, holds the valuation day three times a year plus an annual exhibition at Bolton Library in November.
He said: "Anyone who wishes to have an item valued or put on display during this year's exhibition should get in touch."
