Biagio was born in Italy and came to America when he was 9 years old. He lived and went to school in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he married his wife, Dorothy, and had two children. Biagio worked as Director of Religious Education for a number of parishes in the Archdiocese of New York for twelve years. During this time, Biagio studied at Fordham University in the Bronx, getting his masters degree in Religious Studies, and did post graduate work in Theology and Scripture at Maryknoll School of Theology, Maryknoll, New York. In July 1988, Biagio moved to Kansas City to work for the diocese of Kansas City-St.

Biagio facilitated formation sessions in the diocesan ministry formation program , New Wine, for over 17 years, facilitating courses on a variety of topics including scripture, theology, and Church history. A contributor to The Catholic Bible, Personal Study Edition published by Oxford University Press, Biagio has been an adjunct instructor in scripture, church history, and Islam for the Institute of Religious Studies facilitated through Benedictine College for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas since its beginning in the early 1990s. Biagio is active in ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, especially with Jewish-Christian and Muslim-Christian dialogues. Facilitating adult learning in scripture, church history, and theology are some of Biagio's special interests, along with cooking, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. With over 30 years of experience in working for the church, Biagio has focused primarily on the training of parish ministers and on adult faith formation.
Biagio coordinates our Adult Faith Formation program, and teaches many of our formation classes including RCIA (in English). He also coordinates the annual Ecumenical Service.

Biagio Mazza is Pastoral Associate for St. Sabina's Parish in Belton, Missouri providing for the adult faith formation needs of the parish. He has worked for the Church in various positions for over 30 years. Previous to coming to St. Sabina in May 2006, he was a staff member of the Center for Pastoral Life and Ministry in the diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph for over 17 years. Prior to joining that, he worked in catechetical ministry in the Archdiocese of New York for over 12 years.

Since 1988, Biagio facilitated formation courses in the nationally recognized Lay Ministry Formation Program, New Wine. A contributor to The Catholic Bible, Personal Study Edition published by Oxford University Press, he has also written for various publishers and publications including Renew, Liturgy Training Publications, Celebration, and Bible Today.
Most recently Biagio published one book and contributed to another. He authored a book in the Paulist Press Catechist's Guide Series called How to Teach Scripture, published in 2010. He is also a major contributor to Foundations for Preaching and Teaching, books on Scriptural background for Lectionary Years A, B and C published by Liturgy Training Publications.
Biagio was an adjunct instructor in Scripture, theology, church history, and Islam for the Institute of Religious Studies facilitated through Benedictine College for the Archdiocese of Kansas City, Kansas, as well as adjunct Theology instructor for both Rockhurst and Avila Universities in Kansas City, Missouri. He is active in ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, especially with Jewish-Christian and Muslim-Christian dialogues.
Biagio Mazza received his Masters degree in theology and religious education from Fordham University, Bronx, New York, with post graduate work in Scripture and theology at Maryknoll School of Theology, Maryknoll, New York. He is married, has two children, two grandchildren, and loves to read, cook and work late into the night.
