Service Learning Coordinator Beverly Farfan, who heads up Lane's involvement in the event, has been participating for 17 years.
"It's a magical thing. It's not a soup kitchen. It's not a handout. Our slogan is 'neighbors helping neighbors.' It's everybody coming together. Some people have, some people don't have, so we share," Farfan said. Farfan estimates that between 2,200 and 2,500 people, including families and many homeless, were served last year, and she expects that number to increase this year.

Farfan says she hopes they can fill the gym this weekend on Donation Drop Day. The need is especially acute for monetary donations. Unlike in past years, Farfan says the organization has to pay for the turkeys they will serve at the annual dinner.
