Dr. Coulter's love of teaching began when, as a seventeen-year-old United States representative to the Salvation Army's Mexico Youth Corps ministry, she taught music and English to orphaned children in Mexico City. Her work in sacred music has been a lifelong endeavor and continues to be a vital part of her spiritual and artistic life. She is the founder and Artistic Director of the Riuniti Opera, an organization designed to provide opportunities for young singers to work and perform with established professionals in the opera field. She launched the Riuniti Summer Educational Opera Series in conjunction with the Alhambra Orchestra, and has brought The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, The Marriage of Figaro, The Impresario and The Tales of Hoffmann to school children as well as to the general public during recent seasons. As a staunch advocate of new music, Dr. Coulter has performed in premieres of many new works in the United States and abroad.
