Rev. Betty Gamble, Associate General Secretary of GCCUIC, issued three challenges to the GCCUIC Board of Directors at their recent meeting in September 2010. The challenges arise out of the General Conference's Act of Repentance that calls upon the church and its members to deepen relationships with Native and indigenous peoples through honest appraisal of our past relationships and the gospel's call for us to seek forgiveness with those we have wronged. The challenges are questions for reflection and for encouraging spiritual practices. Even as the GCCUIC Board takes up these three questions, other groups and communities with the United Methodist Church are encouraged to do likewise. For the work of repentance is communal as well as individual. Thus may Rev. Gamble's three challenges aid United Methodist communities in fulfilling the Act of Repentance.
