First at Blue Note and then at Columbia, Marlena Shaw hit a rich vein of form in the 1970s. 'Acting Up' was the New York singer's second LP for Columbia and like her debut for the label, 'Sweet Beginnings' (also reissued by bbr), was helmed by uber producer Bert DeCoteaux.
