Bernard J Lind
Bernard Lind was educated in the US at Brandeis University (BA) and Columbia University (MBA).
He began his career at Merrill Lynch and Company in New York as a stockbroker before joining their Government Securities Department.
Recruited to help start the New York Branch of the French Bank Credit Industriel et Commercial during his ten years with them he established CIC as one of the most innovative and successful foreign banks in the US financial market.
moved to the New York branch of Midland Bank
as Executive Vice President where he
participated in the disposition of the Crocker Bank
and chaired the funds management company created to invest the sale proceeds.
At the end of 1986 he moved to London to head the Midland Bank Fixed Income Division at the time of "big bang" encompassing gilts, eurobonds, interest rate derivatives, futures options and proprietary trading in debt and equities.
In 1989 he was appointed to the newly created post of Director of Group Market Risk where he implemented the first comprehensive risk management system for the Midland Bank Group.
In 1990 he
moved to the National Westminster Bank
as Director of Group Treasury responsible for its world-wide money market and foreign exchange business.
Deputy Chairman of NatWest Futures he negotiated the acquisition of a US broker and was an elected member of the Board of Liffe serving on its finance and product strategy committees.
Established himself as a consultant in 1992 focusing on the financial services sector where clients have included Dow Jones Markets, the Lawson Mardon Group, the Prudential Corporation, the Central Bank of Ghana The European Bank (EBRD) and the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation (FIDP program).
He is currently a non-executive director of Brady Plc (a risk management software developer).
