Barry S. Skikne, MD is professor of internal medicine and director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, Division of Hematology, University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City. Dr. Skikne received an MBBCh from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and completed a residency in internal medicine at Johannesburg General Hospital and a fellowship in the Division of Hematology, University of Kansas Medical Center. He is board certified in hematology. Dr. Skikne is author of almost 100 book chapters and journal articles in publications such as Blood and the American Journal of Hematology, and has made invited presentations on a range of topics at national and international meetings. He has widespread experience in bone marrow transplantation in all areas, including autologous, allogeneic, and matched unrelated donor transplants, and has extensive expertise in iron disorders. Dr. Skikne is a fellow of the American College of Physicians.
