Barry McGuire
(Kirkland, Washington)-Veteran Christian musician Barry McGuire received an honorary doctoral degree from Northwest University on Friday, March 19, to recognize him for half a century of worldwide musical influence. In the 1960s, Mr. McGuire sang with the New Christy Minstrels, starred in the musical Hair, and recorded Eve of Destruction, a protest song which reached the top of the Billboard and Cashbox charts. Upon his conversion in 1971, Mr. McGuire became one of the leaders of the music of the Jesus Movement. Since that time he has performed around the world spreading the message of Christ's love.
