She is fascinated by the story behind each piece of old furniture, photo, or house. From this passion sprung the inspiration for her first independent business, Keepsake Antiques, which sold refurbished furniture and other relics. In 1989 she became the owner and executive producer for Keepsake Productions and is well known in the television industry through Lagniappe Media, Inc., a subsidiary of Keepsake, which specializes in award-winning documentaries. Sillery earned a B.A. in theatre and speech from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and completed some graduate work in communications at the University of New Orleans. Most of Ms. Sillery's professional life has been spent as a writer and producer for such programs as Plantation Portraits,City Park: 200 Years of Urban Wilderness, Things That Go Bump in the Night , The Prize, Skyriders--Louisiana's Aviation Pioneers, and"The Live Meeting of the Courts of Rex and Comus. She has also contributed articles to Cultural Vistas Magazine, Antique Gazette, Circle of Friends, and Celtic Informer, as well as a television interview with Hilary Swank for Extra, the syndicated entertainment show. Among the many awards she has earned are the International WordFest Award, Telly Award, PBS award, and Helicon Award. She has also received numerous grants and participated in various festivals and panels, including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Lafitte National Park Visitor Center, Arts Council of New Orleans grant review panel, and the Louisiana Endowment for the humanities media review panel. Now a resident of Algiers, Louisiana, Ms. Sillery, a proud mother of three daughters, continues her career as a television producer and writer. She is an avid swimmer who enjoys spending as much time as she can near, on, or in the water. In fact, she paid her way through college by giving swimming lessons and training lifeguards.
