Participation on the advisory board complements and supports the Cypress University Program, which aims to expose engineering students to design-intensive products and tools so they can make an immediate impact in the workplace upon graduation.

The Industrial Advisory Board, which usually meets in the fall and spring, aims to assist the Materials Engineering Department in maintaining the excellence of its materials program and to encourage it to continue its "hands-on" approach to engineering education.Members serve a three-year term and may be asked to offer additional advice and counsel to the department chair.Cypress
