"I get requests from shelters every year," says coordinator Barbara Kenig, who delivers hundreds of baskets every Easter.

EBunny and her husband, V21C President Howard Kenig, are members of Temple Beth Sholom in Summerlin, where Barbara serves on the Board of Directors.
Kenig recounts a grandparent who stopped by the Las Vegas City Mission to pick up baskets for her grandkids, one year. "The parents couldn't afford to buy Easter baskets... and the kids woke up crying, thinking the Easter Bunny had forgotten them. Just then, the phone rang... it was grandma telling the kids to look on the front porch. Two big bunny baskets were waiting. When the kids saw the baskets on the porch, they screamed with glee... "Mommy, you locked the Easter Bunny out!'"

"The kindness came from our generous Las Vegas community," said E Bunny founder and coordinator Barbara Kenig. For 18 years, E Bunny has collected baskets from businesses, churches, and individuals, and delivered them to organizations, agencies and individuals whose children wouldn't have baskets at Easter.

Nearly 1300 baskets were distributed through Straight From The Streets, The Las Vegas Rescue Mission, The Las Vegas City Mission, Sunrise Children's Hospital, the Las Vegas Housing Authority, Safe House, Family Promise, Nevada Social Services, and other groups requesting baskets for their children.
"This kind of success was made possible by our caring community" said Kenig, who was taken back by the response to the program.

An Interview with Barbara Kenig
For those of us, some of us who live in Las Vegas and are listening to this or reading this, others will live in outlying communities, how can we help support the E BUNNY program, Barbara?
Q: And, Barbara, you know what that says again? Your comfort level to say I'm going to give my phone number for anyone who wants it is that you are personally touched by the E BUNNY program in the sense that not only is it a mission for you to provide Easter baskets for the children but a mission to make sure that we don't have any children who feel forgotten this season. I just have to say it's absolutely inspiring! And when you say, "No matter what faith or religion we have, Easter is a time of hope and renewal," I really hope that we as a community come back and continue to renew your hope and your passion for E BUNNY. Barbara Kenig, thank you so much for joining us.
