Hill & Knowlton USA today announced the appointment of Barbara Edler as senior vice president and US director of internal communications, a specialty of the firm's corporate & financial practice.Edler will be based in the firm's San Francisco office.
"Barbara has spent more than 20 years counseling on enterprise-wide cultural challenges, and successfully aligning corporate strategies with efforts to motivate employees.
Edler joins H&K from Burson-Marsteller, where she was managing director for the West Coast corporate/financial practice, and leader of its organizational communications team.
This is an opportunity to build on great work, and continue doing what I love the most, in a place with passionate, collaborative and creative people," said Edler.
Prior to B-M, she served for four years as assistant vice president of Institutional Marketing and PR at Saint Mary's College of California in Moraga.From 1991-95, she ran her own marketing and PR agency, Edler & Associates in Oakland, CA, consulting to small businesses.From 1989-91, Edler worked in Mergers & Acquisitions at Adams & Rinehart, the corporate/financial PR firm of Ogilvy PR in New York.
Edler also served as vice president of marketing & advertising at The Bowery Savings Bank in New York (now Washington Mutual) from 1982-89, and was director of admissions at Russell Sage College in Troy, NY, in the early 1980s.
