Barbara Brunzell's Arts Translation Barbara Brunzell's Arts Translation That's a bit scary, and it may not be correct. But does it matter when that culture generates (and, undiverted, will continue to generate) fewer and fewer opportunities for artists to make even a minimal living? Barbara Brunzell has had this conversation with herself since childhood, which led her, as a 16-year-old, to support herself with odd jobs in Ottawa so she could attend Canterbury High School.

Barbara Brunzell.
But it never evolved, particularly in live format, until the past half-decade, and it is now on Barbara Brunzell's radar. She's the mother of a three-and-a-half-year-old and the director of development and communications at the Arts Court Foundation. "There's a huge gap in programming for two-eight year olds that parents will invest in to sit with their kids and that doesn't cost $45 or $65 a ticket. (At Arts Court) we've had huge discussions about how we need to find this with local talent." The downtown arts venue had a hit in 2009 with Jen Gould's Music Soup, but that was it - until Brunzell and her family were at the Spencerville Fair. Brunzell booked them for two performances on December 11. But with (SnB), the quality is good, really, really good," say Brunzell, adding that the $15 ticket price is another piece of the accessibility puzzle.
