efforts, Dr. Brodie
was recognized as one of UVA's
most influential professors in 2002 and was awarded the Alumni Association of the University of Virginia
Distinguished Professor Award.In 1997, she
was selected by the university's alumni as one of their ten all-time favorite UVA professors.Since arriving at the university, Dr. Brodie
has pioneered multiple initiatives, including nurse practitioner education, master's-level clinically-focused nursing, and doctoral education in nursing.As a leader in development of the latter initiative in the southeastern U.S., Dr. Brodie served as director of the Commonwealth's first Ph.D. program in nursing from 1985 to 1991.
