BERRYVILLE , Barbara B. Bosserman believes voting gives citizens a voice in government.
And Bosserman will help Clarke County residents, voices be heard during the election process when she becomes the county,s general registrar on June 27.

The three-member Clarke County Electoral Board chose Bosserman to replace retiring Registrar Patti Kackley, who has held the position for 14 years.
Bosserman, a 25-year resident of Clarke County, has been office manager with the Clarke County Parks and Recreation Department since 1988.
She,s spent more than 25 years in business administration and management, and has participated in computer technology and software application training through Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown.
During the next two months, Bosserman will take some leave from her current job to learn from Kackley.
Bosserman will also participate in officer training for the county,s election officials in preparation for the June primary races.
Additionally, she will work during the June 14 primaries, when voters will select party nominees for statewide races.
For the first time, Clarke County voters will be using electronic voting machines for the June primaries.
,The county is ready for it,, Bosserman said of electronic voting. ,We,re fortunate that Mrs. Kackley and the Electoral Board pursued purchasing the electronic equipment.
Bosserman is also pleased she,ll continue to work with county citizens.
,We think we,re very fortunate,, DeHaven said. ,We hope she stays around a long time.,

Barbara Bosserman, Clarke County's voter registrar, said people who move into an area and need to adjust the information regarding their automobiles can fill out the voter registration forms at the same time, preventing the need to come into a voter registration office to make the changes.
"They also can go online, download the form, and fill it out," she said."The forms just need to be postmarked by Oct. 6 so that they can be registered."

Barbara B. Bosserman will take Patty Kackley's place as the Clarke County general registrar when Kackley retires this summer.
Bosserman, 50, a Clarke County resident for 25 years, was chosen out of "quite a number of applicants," said Don De Haven, the chairman of the County Electoral Board.
Bosserman has been the office manager with the Clarke County Parks and Recreation Department since 1988.
"We think Barbara will do a terrific job for us for many years to come," De Haven said.
She replaces Kackley, who as general registrar has been signing up voters and managing elections in Clarke County since 1991.
"We came to the conclusion that Barbara was the lady for the job and we were pleased she accepted," he said.
Bosserman and her husband, Virginia State Police Master Trooper Jerry Bosserman, reside just outside Berryville.
