Mrs Cheema is a trustee of the foundation and an active member of the Child Welfare Committee of Chandigarh, U.T.
has volunteered at the Institute of the Blind sector 26 Chandigarh for many years and also independently helped many Visually Impaired students by providing them educational/financial support and by donating short hand and Braille machines.
The Talking Library
program was a result of her
vision to provide continuous support to the visually impaired to achieve a higher education.
Bani Cheema is the Executive Director at DASCFT.
After having lived in the United States for six years where she received her degree in International Organization and Law, she returned to India to work at DASCFT.
While in the USA she worked with various non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area, such as Gateway High School, Socially Responsible Network.
experience at these organizations has exposed her
to social and economic issues faced by communities around the globe.
has developed a new initiative under which the foundation helps the visually impaired with their educational requirements and hopes in the future expand to Health Education programs especially focused on health education including eye care.
likes to travel, swim, spend time with family and friends and stay on top of socio-economic and political issues locally and internationally.
