Axel Adams, Executive Director Axel Adams, Executive Director Axel D. Adams is the son of Mattie Adams and the late Albert Adams, Sr. and is a native of New Ellenton, South Carolina in Aiken County. Some initiatives Axel manages are the Financial Literacy, Saving Churches and Homes Initiatives working with Banking Institutions, and Economic and Social Justice Issues. It is the belly of the organization and he supervises the work of Regional Directors in New York, California, Detroit and Chicago. Axel was hired by Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr. as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Deputy Executive Director in the Chicago Headquarters' Office.

Our mission is to honor those in the community that have worked so hard in making a difference in the lives of young people, said Axel Adams.
Their work helps us with our cause of providing scholarships for deserving young people. Adams is the founder of the Axel Adams Foundation, a nonprofit organization with a mission and focus on education, health and wellness, and socioeconomic issues facing youth and adults. Our scholarships are awarded to deserving students as a means of assisting them in their quest to realize their dreams, Adams said. Entertainment for the evening included musical performances by the Wardlaw Brothers, a gospel quintet from Vidalia, Georgia, managed by Adams. Adams said applications are now being accepted for the Adams Foundation scholarship awards for 2016-17. The scholarship winners will be announced in May, Adams said. A native of New Ellenton, Axel Adams was the first African-American elected to City Council at 22, and the first to serve in the capacity of police commissioner, mayor pro tem and acting mayor. Adams is a motivational speaker, national leader and entrepreneur, owning AAdams Group, specializing in artist management, faith based marketing and public relations. Adams currently is a national director with the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, founded by the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., Adams is in charge of the Coalitions One Thousand Churches Connected effort.
