Autumn Cipala is a ceramic artist living and working in mid-coast Maine.
Originally from northeastern Pennsylvania, Autumn
pursued a formal art school education at School of Visual Arts in New York City as a painting major and re-directed her
focus to ceramics following her
introduction to clay.
holds a BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, and an MFA from University of Nebraska - Lincoln.
most recent body of work is in great part influenced by her
experiences in Amizmiz, Morocco as a presenting artist of the Akal Exchange
, and by her
personal research of historical ceramic pieces in the reserve collections of the Freer
and Sackler Galleries of the Smithsonian Institution and the Nelson Atkins Museum
work nationally and internationally, most recently at the "2011 NCECA Biennial Exhibition" at the Tampa Museum of Art
in Florida and at the "2010 Annual Invitational Pottery Show" at the Art School at the Old Church
in Demarest, New Jersey.
