President Benigno Aquino III has appointed Governor Aurelio Umali as the new chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC).
"Your role as RPOC Chair of Region III is very significant in the light of the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police's efforts to keep the streets of Central Luzon free from crime and lawlessness.5 Ensuring peace and order and public safety is a common goal that we share, and we look forward to a fruitful and productive partnership with you as we continue to keep the communities of Central Luzon safe and sound," Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas told Umali in a message read by DILG Region3 Director Florida Dijan.
Governor Aurelio Umali challenged the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to identify government officials and policemen involved in the operations of illegal drug syndicates in Nueva Ecija.
Umali said.

Pascua and Governor Aurelio Umali gave an update on the province's disaster preparedness in a recent meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council at the Old Capitol Building.
For his part, Umali said the province avoided calamities by the release of water from Pantabangan Dam and other irrigation systems before the arrival of a typhoon as in the case of Ondoy where there was zero casualty.
Governor Aurelio Umali has scheduled a water summit of national and local government units to prepare Nueva Ecija for El Niño.
He said the talks aimed at formulating an action plan against a prolonged dry spell will be participated in by the Department of Agriculture, National Irrigation Administration, water districts, local government units and farmers' and irrigators' association representatives.
He said the farmers are included in the consultation because they will be the ones most heavily affected by the El Niño phenomenon.
Umali said the water level at Pantabangan Dam was recorded at 179.05 meters above sea level last week.
The National Irrigation Administration said it will take only 22 days of zero rainfall for the dam's water level to drop to the critical 172 meters above sea level.
Umali said P1 million was released by the provincial government for an initial cloud-seeding, aside from the financial support pledged by First Gen. Corp. and other private entities.
He said the summit will also look for other sources of irrigation water to lessen the dependence on Pantabangan Dam. ###
The P50.2 billion regional prison facility was presented during a public hearing called by Governor Aurelio Umali following concerns aired on the project's environmental and socio-economic impact on the province.

"We are calling on Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales and Deputy Ombudsman Orlando Casimiro to act on the charges against Governor Umali," the village leaders said.
"Marami sa mga charges against Govenor Umali ay five years na pero wala pa ring resolution. Samantalang yung dun sa mga kalaban ng administrasyon, ang bilis-bilis umusad [Many of the charges against Governor Umali are already five years old, but still with no resolution. While those against opponents of the administration, they act so swiftly]," they added.
They also pointed out that the money involved in all the graft cases filed against Umali could be over P300 million. This includes the fertilizer scam of P12 million, the P16- million multicab scam, the illegal use of provincial funds of P370 million and the illegal appointment of officers, among others.
The latest case filed against Umali stemmed from the P58-million heavy equipment scam, wherein he was accused of misusing local government funds when he approved the acquisition of at least six dump trucks, a pay loader and an excavator.

Representative Aurelio Umali of Nueva Ecija said the Koalisyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino (KNP) was just trying to drive a wedge to make up for the exodus of former President Joseph Estrada's key allies, among them Nueva Ecjia Gov.
Umali said it was "unthinkable" that De Venecia would leave the Lakas party being one of the forces behind the candidacy of President Macapagal-Arroyo.
"It's all intrigue. The Speaker's integrity and loyalty are beyond question," he said.
Talks that De Venecia would bolt the ruling coalition to back the presidential bid of opposition front-runner Fernando Poe Jr. spread after Guingona joined the movie actor's camp to act as his adviser on good governance but only for the duration of the poll period.
The vice president justified his decision, saying his move was meant to quash Ms Macapagal's quest for a fresh six-year mandate and reverse the socioeconomic downturn and curb corruption in government.
