Atanas Sharkov comes out of the telecommunication sector.
He started
SEP Bulgaria project in the beginning of 2003.
Prior to that he was Director of business development at Orbitel - the largest private Bulgarian ISP.Mr. Sharkov is a successful entrepreneur.In 1998,
he established telecom start up Nexcom Bulgaria (www.nexcom.bg), where
he served the role of CEO for 4years.The company became regional leader as the largest alternative operator with a network of 10 countries in Eastern Europe.
Nexcom performed successful exit for USD 12 million to a Nasdaq traded company.While at
Nexcom,
Mr. Sharkov developed two other start ups in the field of ICT, Hermesphone and
Eyebill (www.hermesphone.com, www.eyebill.net).
Hermesphone is an online telecom portal offering discount telecom service in USA, Canada and UK reaching large groups of ethnic minorities.
Eyebill is a state-of-the-art telecom billing system which succeeded to attract market interest and to stay on the market as independent company.
He has also served several assignments in telecom liberalization process in Bulgaria as an independent consultant leading the efforts of the alternative telecom market.
