Arun Rao is the Global Vice President, Human Resources of AppLabs, the world's largest software testing and quality management company. In his current role, Arun oversees the HR operations and people development initiatives globally.
Prior to taking up his current position at AppLabs, Arun was the head of the HR function at Intelligroup Asia, an IT Services Firm based out of Hyderabad, where he was responsible for post-recruitment HR operations as well as the Learning & Development functions. He also worked with Satyam Computers in leadership positions in HR and at Mascon Global, where he worked in their offices in India and the US, to manage their Business HR functions.
Arun started his career with Steel Authority of India Ltd as a Management Trainee in 1989, where he worked with them in various capacities in their Personnel and HR teams till 1999, post which he opted for Voluntary Separation.
Arun has a post graduate diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from the XLRI, Jamshedpur, (Class of 1995), and a Bachelor Degree in Science from the University of Delhi (Class of 1987).

In 1996 he launched The Deaf Way a monthly publication for the Indian deaf community. In 1997, he was on the working group of research on Indian Sign language culminating in creation of a comprehensive dictionary of ISL. Among his many other accomplishments, Mr. Rao currently assumes management of five centres across the country which include staff, management, and faculty those are completely deaf.

The book has over 600 pictures introducing 500 common words that are useful for children in their daily life. The book also includes explanations of how the signs are created.
"Sign language should be considered as a medium of instruction and should be included in the syllabus of Bachelor of Special Education in Hearing Impairment (B.Ed. SE -HI). This will help teachers know how to interact with students with hearing disabilities and help them learn the same," said Mr. Rao.
