Union Leader - Veteran Central teacher earns D.A.R. honor - Monday, May. 29, 2006
Before coming to Central, Mirabile spent seven years teaching at Manchester Memorial, then took eight years off to start a family with Arthur Mirabile, longtime music teacher at Memorial where the auditorium bears his name.
In 1976, Mirabile
long association with Central High, juggling three little girls and chaperoning her
husband's many band trips.
As personal responsibilities have changed , her
daughters are all grown and have successful careers , Mirabile
has been able to devote more energy to her
own job."I know I'm a better teacher now than I was 30 years ago," she
was nominated for the award by the Molly Stark Chapter of D.A.R
wrote a narrative of her
career and included testimonials from administrators, colleagues and students.

Mirabile's late husband, Arthur Mirabile, was the music director at Manchester's Memorial High School for many years until his death.

Many times, Herbert's generosity was shown quietly, donating music stands and other small items, but after former Memorial High School band director Arthur J. Mirabile died, it was Ted Herbert who stepped forward, bringing his big band out of retirement for one day in August 1997, to raise $20,000 in a benefit performance at the Palace Theatre and support a scholarship in Mirabile's name at UNH.
