Dr. Arnold B. Lovell
The Reverend Doctor Arnold B. Lovell is an ordained Presbyterian minister, a Teaching Elder in the Presbyterian Church USA, and has served the PCUSA as a pastor, leader, professor, and consultant since 1981.
is a native of Davidson County, having grown up in Lexington, North Carolina.
wife, Emily, met while teaching school together in Lexington.
They were active members at First Presbyterian Church there until they left teaching to attend seminary at Union Theological Seminary
in Richmond, Virginia, beginning in the summer of 1977.
One the interesting facts of how God connects us all is the while attending FPC in Lexington, Emily and Arnold
served as Youth Leaders to the youth group in which he
had been active while in high school, called Acts Alive.
Their pastor, who worked with them, served as their advocate during their considering going to UTS
and who baptized both of their daughters, was The Reverend Dr. Richard Sommers.
Dr. and Mrs. Lovell
have been married for 37 years.
The Lovells have two daughters, Carolyn and Catherine.
Dr. Lovell has served the PCUSA in a number of roles and relationships over the last 31 years since his ordination.
Dr. Lovell has served as the Senior Minister of both First Presbyterian Church in South Charleston, West Virginia and Second Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Tennessee; Interim Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Johnson City, Tennessee, and Jamestown Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, North Caronia; Professor of Evangelism at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia; as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Presbyterian School of Christian Education, Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia and was appointed as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Princeton Theological Seminary recently, having taught Evangelism during the Spring Semester, 2011.
