Dwain Govan of A. Maceo Smith High School and Ardis McCann of Spruce High School were asked to resign, DISD officials confirmed.
...Willie Crowder, executive director of the Dallas School Administrators Association, which includes all three principals as members, said Mr. Govan and Mr. McCann are on paid administrative leave.
Mr. Govan and Mr. McCann
were two of the district's biggest credit card spenders.

spent $266,670 with his
credit card between January 2004 and June 2006, according to the district's credit card database. Mr. McCann's
largest expenditure was a $19,991 charge to Troxell Communications in Phoenix.The company sells audio-visual supplies, including camcorders, cameras and televisions.The records don't show what Mr. McCann purchased, but Troxell is not a district-approved vendor. Mr. McCann
also often bought food, most notably spending $6,000 at pizza shops.Altogether, his
food purchases totaled more than $17,000.He
also charged $1,210 in furniture to a federal grant, which is generally not allowed by government rules.
most unusual expenditures was $781 in wedding ribbons, flowers and shoes for an after-school fashion show, according to notes written on purchase receipts obtained by The News.Many of the items, including 13 pairs of shoes, were returned to the store after the show.
