.Senator April Fairfield
was first elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives
in 1996 representing rural areas around Jamestown.She
was elected to the North Dakota Senate
in 2002 when she
ran as a progressive and defeated the incumbent senator who was chairman of the Senate agriculture committee.She
is a leader in the North Dakota Progressive Coalition, and is currently representing the Midwest Progressive Elected Officials Network on the Midwest States Center Board of Directors.She has served as Coalition chairperson, on the Coalition's Economic Justice Task Force, and as the representative of the North Dakota Farmers Union.April was elected Co-Chair of the Midwest Progressive Elected Officials Network (MPEON) Steering Committee at the November 2004 gathering.
