Anton's mission is to Change the Face of the American Theatre audience. As an interdisciplinary theatre artist, Anton Jones has devoted his career to fusing his experience as a playwright, director, theatre educator, composer/sound designer, and dramaturg into his own unique approach to the creation of live performance. For the past 8 years he has been proud to work with Twin Cities Theatres such as Children's Theatre Company, Pillsbury House Theatre, Pangaea World Theatre, The Illusion Theatre, and History Theatre. A 2006 & 2008 recipient of the Playwright's center/Jerome Foundation Many Voices Residency, he is co-founder of the Unit Collective and currently developing a new play with Mixed Blood Theatre and Footprints Collective that will premier in November.

The performance at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 2, will include a special presentation of "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" and interactive narration by Children's Theatre personality Anton Jones.
Jones, who teaches at the Children's Theatre Company, will present the music throughout the concert, including a video during "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."

Anton Jones Anton Jones, Teaching Artist | Playwright, Director, Composer Anton holds his MFA from the University of Iowa Playwright's Workshop. He has directed for Pillsbury House Theatre, The Illusion Theatre, Great American History Theatre and is a two time recipient of the Playwrights' Center/Jerome Many Voices Fellowship. As a composer, his music has been heard at Pillsbury House Theatre, Illusion, and as the full score for a runway Show in Hamburg, Germany. As a teaching artist he has worked with North High School to develop a hip-hop adaptation of "Lord of the Flies," with Penumbra Theatre and St. Paul Academy of Performing Arts to develop original works based off of the styles of August Wilson, as well as teaching various classes with a focus on ensemble created work through theatres such as Children's Theatre Company, Pangea World Theatre, and The Guthrie Theatre. He is currently working with various Minneapolis Public Schools through Arts for Academic Achievement where he uses his multidisciplinary background to aid teachers and students in integrating arts into their language arts curriculum and learning environments. Anton has been working with Upstream Arts since 2010.

In 2004, he was teaching theatre appreciation and playwriting at the University of Iowa while working closely with Hip-Hop Theatre Pioneer and Guest Artist Will Power by writing the program notes and acting in Will's production of The Seven. Four months later, he was adapting lyrics and composing/performing original music for a production of Good Person of Szechuan while finishing rewrites of his own play Waking Nicodemus which was going into production the following Spring. Another 4 months passed and he was holding his MFA from the University of Iowa Playwright's Workshop and relocating to Minneapolis. In 2006 & 2008 he was recipient of the Playwright's center/Jerome Foundation Many Voices Residency where he developed The FUNeral a fusion of Hip-Hop Theatre and Commedia Dell'Arte. He has directed for Pillsbury House Theatre, History Theatre, Climb and Illusion Theatre. As a theatre educator he has taught at The Guthrie, Penumbra, Mixed Blood, Pillsbury House Theatre, Pangea World Theatre, and Imagination Stage (MD).
