What began as a simple request from Holy Family Cathedral pastor Father Anthony Patalano to "clean up" the Stations of the Cross for the parish's dedication soon became a lengthy overhaul of the 14 pieces.
So the Thompsons painted gloss on a small section on one of the human figures and Father Patalano decided he would like all the Stations to shine similarly.

Rev. Anthony Patalano, pastor of Holy Family Cathedral, says the Nicene Creed is basically the only one used at that congregation, where it is said by the priest and congregation after the homily.
"When I got to Anchorage in 2011, the translation of the Nicene Creed was changed to be more faithful to the Latin text," he added.

The gathering began with Mass celebrated by Dominican priest Father Anthony Patalano, pastor of Holy Family Cathedral in Anchorage.
During the Mass, the Holy Rosary choir led hymns chosen by the graduates. Father Patalano's homily urged Klump and Owen to remember Christ's exhortation that all disciples must be the spiritual salt of the earth, and that if they don't adhere whole-heartedly to the teachings of Christ, not only would their faith be in vain, but they would also lead others astray.

Our former pastor, Fr. Anthony Patalano, is an avid proponent of the Dominican Rite and did much to foster and encourage it during his years at Holy Rosary, observing that for the most part "the Dominican Rite had been sadly neglected, except in a few localities were it was celebrated for special occasion, e.g. anniversaries, etc. As a result of the generous indults of John Paul II, to celebrate the pre-councilor Mass, and in 2007 with the promulgation of Benecit XVI's Motu Proprio, Summorum Pontificum, there is revived interest in celebrating the Dominican Rite."
