Bishop Anthony L. Jinwright of Charlotte, indicted on federal allegations of tax evasion and mail fraud, is proclaiming his innocence.
Jinwright Jinwright, pastor of Greater Salem Church in Charlotte and Greater Salem at the Lake in Cornelius, says he is not guilty of allegations that have been made against him.
"No evidence to support these charges has been presented to me and I therefore await my day in court," Jinwright said in a statement. "Our constitution upholds the judicial system and each citizen of this country is innocent until proven guilty."
The board of directors at Greater Salem also released a statement this week expressing their unwavering support for Jinwright and his family.

The indictment also alleges Jinwright purchased a home valued at approximately $990,000 with an $820,000 mortgage requiring monthly payments of $6,500.

The charges allege that even after the grand jury started its investigation, Jinwright made additional extravagant expenditures, including the lease of a 2007 Rolls-Royce Phantom valued at $352,500 and leasing a 2009 Lexus.
Jinwright said in the statement he is saddened by the indictment.
"The members of Greater Salem Church have surrounded my family and me from the initial investigation in prayer, love and support and have pledged to continue the same during these proceedings," Jinwright wrote. "I hope that other faith communities will join with us in prayer support."
Jinwright has been pastor at Greater Salem since 1981.

I was raised in Salem Baptist Church and Pastor Jinwright christianed and baptized me. Its sad how it seems the church has become somewhat of a cult. The only thing i can say is read the Word of God for yourself. Never worship a man because thats all he is. What goes on in the dark always comes to the light. Who knows what God's plan is, maybe it wasnt to slaughter Rev. Jinwrights reputation but simply to show members of Greater Salem City of God that they need to follow and trust in the Lord. Never put man so high on a pedastal to where you think he is perfect and can do no wrong. God is God. Rev. Jinwright is not. R.I.P. Robin Anderson.

Don't do a murder victim's family the injustice of including him/her when making a point about Jinwright.
