News DirectorMonday through Friday6am - 12:30pmAnnette Flournoy joined Metro Networks/Westwood One as the news director for WVON in September 2005, after leaving her position as morning-drive reporter and midday anchor at Citadel Broadcasting in the southern region of the United States.Flournoy began her career in the early 90's as a desk and production assistant at WBBM News Radio 780, eventually landing a position at WBEZ Chicago Public Radio in 1996 where she served as producer for several talk shows.She worked as a grant-funded cultural affairs producer/reporter for the news department, a general assignment reporter and news features reporter where she contributed to in-depth features on violence, religion, immigration, and the "Chicago Matters" series, which is an annual partnership series that highlights topics that touch the lives of Chicagoans.
In addition, Flournoy
produced and reported news features for various public radio entities including: Pacifica Radio, Monitor Radio, Latino USA, and National Native News. A graduate of Columbia College/Chicago with a degree in Journalism, Flournoy's commitment to news and dedication in covering issues that matter has earned her awards from the Associated Press, the National Headliners Club, the Society of Professional Journalists and a Peter Lisagor nomination.
