Facilities profession mourns loss of Anne Fallucchi, IFMA Fellow, industry editor and leader - CFM - McMorrowReport.com Facilities profession mourns loss of Anne Fallucchi, IFMA Fellow, industry editor and leader The facilities management profession mourns the loss of Anne Fallucchi, founding editor and co-publisher of FACILITIES Design & Management magazine. A Fellow of the International Facility Management Association, Anne Fallucchi passed peacefully in New Jersey in June 2013. In the early 1980s, Fallucchi helped to develop the fledgling facilities management profession with her keen insight into the purchasing power and influence of the facilities manager in corporate America. She sought to elevate the importance of the facilities manager to Fortune 500 company boards by highlighting their vast responsibilities across the organization in many well-researched and documented cover stories about the design, construction and management of workplaces. FACILITIES was a hybrid design and business publication that earned 30,000 monthly subscribers. Dozens of principals and representatives of leading commercial architecture and interior design firms sought meetings with Fallucchi in her New York office to get their clients' story published in her magazine-where the story always delved far deeper than the surface of the design. She directed her editorial staff to weave details about cost savings and design dilemmas into compelling vignettes of how hundreds of companies or institutions figured out how to organize the people who did the work-and how to integrate the emerging technology of the workplace. She insisted that every facility manager cover profile included the company organization chart and highlighted the FM position. She knew in her heart this act would-over time-reveal their ascension in the corporation or institution. Fallucchi's sense of service to the industry was unparalleled. She returned every letter and phone call, and toiled late into the evening to produce a monthly publication with groundbreaking material. She was devoted to the success of IFMA and its mission to set guidelines for the profession. She remained a supporter of the allied design professions and also gave recognition to the former International Society of Facilities Executives (ISFE). Fallucchi inspired facility managers nationwide and provided thousands with the information they needed to design an office, hire a design firm, fix a maintenance problem, figure out what the heck CAFM was, to be a better business person, and how to talk to the boss. She left her mark. You would not be reading McMorrowReport.com, if I had not had the privilege of working as her managing editor and executive editor from 1988 to 1994, when she retired. We were all introduced to the profession-and developed our careers-with Anne Fallucchi's guidance. Anne enjoyed 19 years of relaxing retirement where she pursued travel, exercise, family time with her nieces and nephews, freelance writing in the FM profession, and keeping in touch with many, many professional friends.
