Anne Berry
In her own words..
Anne Berry grew up on an east Texas farm near Texarkana. She and her husband, Neal Berry, have two children, Wade and Crystal.
Anne started to make reproduction dolls as a hobby in 1980.A year later, she began sculpting original dolls. She sculpts with either water base clay or super sculpy. She reproduces the likeness of people and prefers to work from photographs of the subject. She prefers to make the final version of the doll porcelain.
Anne has taken sculpting from several notable artists, including Theo Menzenbach (Coburg Germany) Lewis Goldstein (Oregon U.S.A.), and Magge Head Kane (Tennessee U.S.A.).
Anne has written numerous magazine articles about her dolls and the techniques to produce them, including Doll Crafter, Doll News, Dolls Contemporary Dolls, and IDMA Convention Books.Photographs of her dolls have been published on post cards, the Annual Doll Crafter Doll Calendar, and in numerous doll magazines. Her Eric and Lady Jester have been featured on a deck of playing cards should commercially called Little Dolls. The Lady Jester was featured on the package.
She is a member of the International Doll Makers Association and was awarded some of their highest awards, including the first place in the Gold Diamond for original doll creations. She is an IDMA accredited judge. She also won the first place awards in the Pearl and Emerald categories for reproduction dolls.Anne won first place awards for competition at the Silver Dollar City Doll Makers Challenge in Branson, Missouri.
Anne is a member of the original Doll Artists Council of America (ODACA).She was selected to sculpt and make a souvenir doll for the 1993 ODACA Day convention in Chicago. She is a member of Doll Artisans Guild (DAG) and has taken numerous seminars with DAG instructors. She now has sufficient points to qualify for her Master's in Doll Making.
Anne paints with soft, realistic colors and uses only the finest materials and accessories. The reason for many one of a kind costumes on their original limited edition dolls is that the laces, jewelry, and ribbon in many cases are vintage.

Anne likes to produce the likeness of people by working frm photographs. Her work is done in porcelain on bloth bodies with a 'snap head' armature for ease of posing. Her wigs vary from synthetic to human hair and the eyes are most often French paperweight.Frequently her pieces are manufactured into reproduction molds which results in dolls slightly smaller than the original editions.
Her elaborately costumed French soldier, Wade, is 16" and has been featured on the Home Shopping Network in 1995.
Anne created Susie, an all bisque doll for the 1993 ODACA Day souvenir, which was held in Chicago.

Anne Berry has traveled to Germany, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, South Africa, Russia, and India to photograph animals in the wild and in captivity.
The photographs she creates are soulful portraits that force the viewer to consider man's vanishing connection to nature. Behind Glass, Anne's current project, is on exhibit at the Rankin Arts Photography Center in Columbus this September & October. Anne will share images from this series and discuss her process from capturing through printing. She will also describe interesting animal encounters and answer questions about photographing animals in captivity and in the wild.
