Anita Walsh, Principal
Currently Principal Second Violinist with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Anita enjoys a varied career, displaying versatility in a wide range of musical styles. As an orchestral player, she has performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Thirteen Strings Ensemble, and as guest Principal with the Winnipeg and London (Ont.) Symphony Orchestras. Equally at home as a chamber musician, Anita is a founding member of the Bremen String Quartet, and has appeared in concert with distinguished colleagues at the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, MusicFest Vancouver, the Glenn Gould Studio, Colorado Springs Summer Music Festival, Le Domaine Forget, Festival of the Sound, Scotia Festival of Music, Banff Centre for the Performing Arts, Perimeter Institute, Blackcreek Festival, and the Westben Arts Festival. She has recorded for CBC records, and has been broadcasted on CBC Radio's "Take Five" and "In Performance". Originally from Ottawa, Anita studied formatively with David Zafer, Lorand Fenyves, and David Stewart, earning her M.Mus. Aside from her affinity for performing, Anita is deeply committed to volunteerism in the Waterloo Region. She enjoys working with various groups, including the National Service Dogs of Canada who train Labrador and Golden Retrievers for families living with autism and post traumatic stress disorder.

Anita Walsh, Principal Violin Member of the Canadian Chamber Ensemble (CCE) Ottawa born violinist Anita Walsh enjoys a varied career, displaying versatility in a wide range of musical styles from the baroque to the contemporary. An avid chamber musician, she is a founding member of the newly formed Bremen String Quartet and a member of the Canadian Chamber Ensemble. Since 2005, Anita has held the position of Principal Second Violinist with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, with whom she has been a frequent guest soloist. She has also performed with the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Toronto Symphony, Thirteen Strings, and as guest Principal Second with the Winnipeg Symphony and Orchestra London. A great lover of animals, Anita has been a volunteer trainer with the National Service Dogs of Canada since 2007.

She has appeared in concert with distinguished colleagues at music festivals throughout Canada, including the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, MusicFest Vancouver and the Scotia Festival of Music. Aside from her affinity for performing, Anita is deeply committed to bringing the joy and excitement of music making to our next generation of classical musicians. She is frequently called upon to adjudicate at the Kiwanis Music Festival and has enjoyed coaching students at the Interprovincial Music Camp, University of Ottawa, Acadia University, National Academy Orchestra and KW Youth Symphony.
