From 1999-2000, Mr. Sobrepeña was elected LCF President. He continues to serve as Member of the LCF Advisory Council up to the present.
He finished his Certificate in Development Economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics as a NEDA scholar in 1974 and his Master of Arts in Development Economics at the Williams College in Massachusetts, U.S.A., also as a NEDA-USAID scholar in 1977.

Aniceto Sobrepeña has spent more than 22 years in public service, and acquired the highest rank in the Career Executive Officers Corps. In 1995, he was elected Executive Director of the Metrobank Foundation, and later as Executive Vice President of the foundation, concurrently serving as the Executive Vice President of Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. Under his leadership, the Foundation and became one of the country's most dynamic corporate philanthropic organizations.

In 1999, he became President of the League of Corporate Foundations and initiated the annual celebration of a Corporate Social Responsibility Week. He also chaired the LCF Education Committee from 1996 to 1999.

The President of Metrobank Foundation, Aniceto "Chito" Sobrepeña, has stayed the course of development work since his days as a university student leader, championing farmers' rights to own the land they tilled. He chose to build a career in the government service after graduating with Latin honors, joining the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), the Philippine socio-economic planning agency, and volunteering for an assignment in the poorest region then. He rose from the ranks to become the youngest bureau director in the national government at 27 years old.
