Angela OveryShort Biography: Angela Overy started drawing flowers while growing up in England.Angela has worked in advertising design in London, New York, and San Francisco before settling in Colorado with her husband.She has written for the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens and Fine Gardening magazine, where her own garden appeared on the cover.Currently an illustrator at the School of Botanic Illustration at the Denver Botanic Gardens, Angela is also a much-sought-after speaker.Among the many awards she has received is the Harriet De Waele Puckett Award for creativity from the Garden Club of America.

Angela Overy grew up in England drawing flowers.A graduate of St. Martins School of Art, she worked as an advertising graphic designer in London and New York.Angela and her husband live in the Rocky Mountain foothills, where their garden has appeared on the cover of Fine Gardening magazine.The surrounding Colorado wildflowers, gardens, and her worldwide travels have provided much of the inspiration for her artwork, writing and photography.Angela is the founder of the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanic Illustration where she taught for years.
In Lesson 1, Angela
discusses and demonstrates how pollination works for various plants and flowers.There's a discussion of plant anatomy, with lot's of examples.Also, there's a fun anatomy game where you can interactively test what you've learned.Another topic includes plant sexual orientation and and you can use what you've learned in this lesson in your own garden
Lesson 2 is all about how plants use color, shape, and scent to attract pollinators.Angela
offers insight into the specific sexual strategies that your plants and flowers use for reporduction.Again, She

Lesson 3 is all about the birds and the bees, and of course butterflies, wasps, moths, flies, beetles, ants, bats, wind, human pollinators and how they help your plants and flowers reproduce.Angela

The Native Plant Center at Westchester Community College may help answer that question when it presents an entertaining slide lecture by author Angela Overy on Sex in Your Garden : The Intimate Relationships between Your Plants and Their Pollinators on Saturday , October 13.She will take an amusing look at the secret life of plants , birds , and bees while explaining why flowers vary in size , shape , and color.Overy , who grew up in England and later moved to the foothills of the Rocky Mountains , is the founder of the Denver Botanic Gardens School of Botanic Illustration , where she has taught for many years

The day begins with plant advice from Master Gardeners and the Cornell Cooperative Extension at 9 : 30 a.m. , followed by Overy's lecture and slide presentation at 10 : 30 a.m. After her
book sale and signing at 11 : 30 a.m. , there will a Benefactor's Luncheon with the author in historic Hartford Hall at 12 : 15 p.m..
