has presented locally and nationally on violence-related issues and persons with disabilities including: child abuse, domestic violence, dating violence, elder abuse, and emergency preparedness.She
has presented and provided training with regard to the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) on physical barriers, communication barriers, and reasonable accommodations as well as emergency preparedness for persons with disabilities and the deaf community.Ms. Kaufman is currently the program coordinator for an Education and Training Grant to Prevent Violence Against Women with Disabilities from the United States Department of Justice.In addition, Ms. Kaufman coordinates an emergency/crisis response team of sign language interpreters for the city of Los Angeles and is a member of the Mayor's Office Crisis Response Team to ensure that access to programs and services for the disability and deaf communities are available in times of local or national crisis and/or disasters.Ms. Kaufman
previously worked with a child abuse agency providing in-home counseling, parent education, and advocacy services to families where either the child or a parent was deaf or hard of hearing.
