Angie Jackson-Wilson is the owner of AJW Event Planning and Signature Catering.
Her professional career spans over 35 years. Throughout her career, Angie had held positions, such as Executive Assistant to the Secretary General of the Insurance Association of the Caribbean, Barbados; Budget Director for the USAID Regional Management Development Pilot Project at the University of the West Indies, Barbados; Traffic Manager of WSVI TV Channel 8, St Croix USVI; Commercial Lines Underwriter at the Inter Ocean Insurance Agency, St Croix USVI. Prior to starting her business in 2004, she worked as an Insurance Operation Supervisor at JP Morgan Chase, Monroe, LA. Her experience in the insurance, banking and television industries have given her the tools to continue to empower, educate and inform on behalf of women. A graduate of the University of the West Indies, Barbados, she earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Angie is an active member of several non-profit organizations in the area including being a board member of the Monroe West Monroe Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Families Helping Families of Northeast Louisiana. While at JP Morgan Chase, she was a founding member of the company's Diversity Council and continued to represent her division for three years on the Council. Additionally, she was named to the Diversity Training Team, to provide comprehensive leadership to all the Monroe locations. In 2005, she was elected State President of the Louisiana Federation of Business & Professional Women. She was elected and served from 2006-2009 as the National Membership Chair of Business & Professional Women/USA. She currently serves as the State Treasurer and Membership Chair for the Louisiana Federation of Business and Professional Women.
The following members of the Monroe-West Monroe Business and Professional Women were elected to serve on the BPW state board: Peggy Wells, project manager at ANGUS Chemical Co., secretary and Web master; Angela Jackson-Wilson, owner of AJW Event Planning, treasurer; Rhonda Counselman, owner of Cooley Digital Press and Cooley Printing, editor of the BPW magazine "The Pelican"; and Judy Wilson, owner of the consultant firm Get Noticed, Call Judy, public relations chairman.
Janis Guyton, President of Monroe/West Monroe BPW, welcomed the attendees.Â Angie Jackson-Wilson, Treasurer of BPW/LA, brought greetings and encouragement for the passage of the ERA from the state BPW Federation.Â Camille Moran, Lobbying Director for United for Equality and the Louisiana Coalition for the ERA stated, â€œEverything that we can do to secure passage of the ERA in Louisiana will be done!Â We want to be one of the three states to get this legislation passed!â€�
New officers to be installed are Peggy Wells, president, Annette Tangye, vice president, Edna Haden, secretary, and Angie Jackson-Wilson, treasurer.
